Why do you Teach?

Why do you teach? Do you teach because you love kids? You want to make a difference in a child’s life. We hear those comments often. Why do you really teach? Teaching is easy when our students are happy, well fed, their emotional needs are being met. It becomes more difficult when our students struggle. Teaching can be and is very complicated when we look at the whole child. Teaching takes our time, energy, enthusiasm, determination, and commitment every day! We never give up on a child!

The difference you make in a child’s life is more influential than you may ever know. Educators teach a child to laugh, love, play, learn and forgive. We help students to make friends, forgive enemies, stand up for themselves, and attempt even when it seems like an unobtainable task. Enjoy your students, laugh and learn with them. Let them see you as a person who is still willing to learn, make mistakes, and say “I apologize”. Let them know you care about them, their world and the world we live in. Teach them to give and to receive. By teaching students, you receive one of the most precious gifts - to be a part of another person’s developmental years. You do make a difference! Enjoy teaching today, tomorrow and always. Take a few minutes to view this video. I hope it renews your spirit of teaching!
