Time Lines
Move-ins
As soon as a resource teacher is aware of a student moving in with an IEP, contact psychologist and together file a move-in report as soon as possible.
SIT /General Education Interventions (GEI)
As part of child find activities, special education teachers may provide intense direct instruction up to but no more than 18 weeks during a school year.
Initial Evaluations
Consent is sent out as soon as possible following SIT referral.
Evaluation must be completed within 60 school days of consent.
(Unless: Parents sign for an extension of the 60 days, parents repeatedly fail or refuse to produce the child for evaluation, or student moves after the evaluation has begun but before it is completed.
IEP team must meet and develop IEP within 30 calendar days of determination of eligibility. (This is within the 60 days following consent.)
IEPÕs
Planning and opening new IEP should begin at least a month before due date.
Meeting date should be set at least a week before due date.
10 day notice should be sent out to whole team in time to arrive before 10 calendar days before the meeting.
Copies of signed documents and signed reports are given to parents at the meeting.
Corrected IEPÕs are entered into WEBKIDDS within a day or two, and
all originals and a corrected TIP and IEP copy are given to psychologist within 3 days.
IEP services are implemented not later than 10 school days after written parental consent for services (blue form).
Preschool
30 days from request to screening
60 days from consent to completion of evaluation and implementation of IEP
(90 days before 3rd birthday)
30 days to write and implement IEP
DD re-evaluation
Any time before 6th birthday or at end of school year, if 6th birthday is before Dec. 1.
Under some rare occasions, DD change may be delayed, but the re-evaluation absolutely must be completed before the childÕs 10th birthday.
